Great software - when I can get my setup and it to cooperate anyway. I suspect my problems primarily exist between the keyboard and the chair.
Short Version: I think I broke my CP2102, but my DIY adapter was temperamental before I broke it, so I'm looking for other options before I buy the same thing again.
Long Version: If you just want to advise me on new stuff to buy, but don't care about my nonsensical journey to reach this point, feel free to skip this part, my question is below.

Made an adapter that successfully worked for the ps3, occasionally it's commands would stop reaching the console until I unplugged and plugged everything back in. This was using software and firmware 5.0
Later I got a ps4 and flashed the ps4 firmware onto the teensy, but the software would not detect my DS4 plugged into my PC (at least this is what I believe was happening based upon forum results when I googled the errors), but then it worked fine once I downgraded to software 4.3, still using firmware 5.0 at this point.
Worked for 5 days, then I decided I wanted to switch the ps4 to a different monitor, this is when stuff started to go bad. It would disconnect from the ps4, I had to either re-flash the teensy firmware or power the ps4 all the way off and back on before GIMX would work with the ps4 again, and that would only work if I switched it back to the original monitor. To clarify, the ps4 would work on the 2nd monitor, but GIMX would not connect to it.
At this point I gave up on switching the ps4 to a different monitor and just swapped the locations of the monitors. And so then it refused to work again. Multiple software re-installs and firmware flashes later, I've tried all combinations of 4.3 and 5.0 software and firmware.
During all the changing the serial adapter and teensy board were not shielded from the outside world like in the tutorial, and so I think I fried my serial converter. I can still flash the Teensy, but I now consistently get the errors of "No controller detected." and "adapter_detect failed" and it is my understanding that that means the GIMX software is not finding the serial converter. Since those errors are now completely consistent, I believe I have fried my serial converter.
Primary Question: What do I buy next?
Thing is, my DIY adapter was a bit temperamental even before I broke it for good; so I am looking at possible alternatives. At this point ease of use and expediency of setup takes a higher priority over price. I am not opposed to buying a Titan or Cronus, or buying someone else's DIY USB adapter. I just want to stop screwing around with it. Requirements are that it works under win7 with ps3/ps4/360/xb1/vitaTV and allows macros/scripts that are at least as easy/effective as the macros for GIMX.
Broke my adapter, looking for options before buying another
Re: Broke my adapter, looking for options before buying anot
Hi,
It may be a bad wiring or a faulty contact.
Please post a clear photo of your adapter.

Phone isn't going to give a clear picture but judging by your response: those errors don't necessarily mean it's the serial converter but that it would be any part of my DIY adapter?
While I suppose faulty contact may have been related to the intermittent problems I was having before, I am fairly certain that my adapter is now toast. I was handling uncovered circuitry without the proper precautions regarding static electricity, and there is a sizable range of voltage for static discharge that can't even be felt by humans, but is still sufficient to fry sensitive electronics.
It is my impression that both the Titan and Cronus can work with GIMX software, just plugged in in place of a DIY adapter; and that this is in addition to their own software, which means I'll have two avenues to explore in regards to making it work with any given setup, is this correct?
This does bring me to another question though. Does either the Titan or the Cronus have a significant advantage in terms of usability with GIMX? And does either one have significantly better scripting/macroing capabilities?
I understand that when using the provided software with Titan/Cronus on a console that requires authentication: I need to plug the controller into the back of the adapter. Is this also what I would do when using the adapter with GIMX software or would I need to move the controller back to my computer?

When using the Titan One with GIMX, the DS4 connected to the Titan One can't be used.
I'm not using the Titan One device and software myself, so I can't tell you about its capabilities.
The Titan One got motion sensing support in the latest update. The DIY USB adapter lacks this functionality.
