Got my Teensy board and serial converter hooked up. When I plug in the USB to my PC the light on the board starts blinking. I have the Teensy firmware loader open and I pressed the button on the board and the light stops blinking but nothing happens on the firmware loader program. It just tells me to press the button to activate even after I pressed the button. I already have the atmega32u4.hex opened in the program.
I'm trying to set this up for PS3. I'm running windows 7 64 bit. It's the Teensy 2.0 development board. I've installed the CP210x_VCP_Windows drivers and it says the device is ready to use. It still doesn't seem to be recognized by the firmware loader program.
Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
Re: Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
- Make sure it is a genuine Teensy.
- Try with another USB cable
- Try with another USB port

Re: Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
Well gee wiz. The problem was the Mini USB A Male to USB B 5 Pin Male Retractable Cable that was recomended by this guide. I tried plugging the teensy into my PC using the USB cable that came with my PS3 and it worked instantly.
Thanks for the tip. Never would have guessed.

Re: Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
Ok, now I'm having an issue with the "no serial port detected" error when I load up Gimx-Serial. Checked Device Manager and there's no Silicon Labs device in the Ports section. I installed CP210x_VCP_Windows though.
Re: Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
This error usually means the wiring is wrong.

Re: Teensy Firmware Not Updating?
Oh I see now. I had the wiring set exactly as shown in the pics in the tutorial. However I checked the serial connector more closely and saw that for this one the pins for TX, RX, and GND are in different positions. Now the serial connection shows up. Thanks.
After I got that working I found I still couldn't get input with it on my PS3. I again switched out the retractable USB cable that the guide recommended to my PS3 USB charger cable which worked. Maybe the guide should be updated or I just happened to get a bad retractable cable.
Thanks for the help.
