(DIYUSB) Converter is female micro usb.. Problems

Hi

Following the DIYUSB, however accidently bought a serial converter than has a female microusb connection (http://m.ebay.com/itm/291600046270?_mwBanner=1)

I connected everything and got the "joystick not found error".
I viewed other threads for troubshooting and was unsuccessful.

Will this component work? Or is it the source of my problem. Need to know, as i will buy this (http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/USB-to-TTL-UAR ... nav=SEARCH) asap.
