PS3 diy USB not working
I am having a very similar problem and the fix listed for him does not fix it for me. I was following this tutorial to the letter. http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=DIY ... or_dummies I now have a 30 dollar little paper weight. I will post a picture of what I have and how it's wired shortly.
Re: PS3 diy USB not working
Did you try to swap RX and TX?
Your CP2102 adapter may be mislabeled.

Re: PS3 diy USB not working
Yes I did try swapping the tx and Rx to no avail. I have installed the USB drivers. It detects the USB as com4. My concern is someone told me that the teensy 2.0 may need to be reprogrammed somehow. I have flashed the hex file repeatedly to it and it just seems like it isn't taking it. I say this because other people state that their PC sees the teensy as a ps3 controller after the flash. Mine does not. If I flash blink fast back to the teensy it starts and works to blink an led. Using gimx 4.3 with 4.3 hex files. This is all on windows 7 laptop 32 bit. I'm on my phone ATM and it won't directly let me upload photos so I will upload wiring photo soon.

Did you power on the console before starting gimx?
Did you read the FAQ?

Yep. I plugged the USB into my PC first nothing running. Then plugged other end into console. Powered on console. Waited till login screen and the tried gimx from there. The only thing I haven't tried from the FAQ is the test program for the serial adapter. I will do that in a bit and post results.

Re: PS3 diy USB not working
Well that seems to work at every baud from 4800 to 250000 with a large chunk of text send and receive are working, with the serial monitor from the arduino ide software. I also took the liberty of testing individually the wires I was using to connect the usb to serial adapter to the teensy and they all worked. So if this works that leaves me wondering about the teensy board and my windows config. I tried to test this from ubuntu live from a usb flash drive and while it sees it and gets to the point at which it asks to install or just try it then freezes my system to the point that the power button hard reset is the only option to regain use of the laptop. Please tell me you or anyone has another idea. I'm so frustrated with this thing. Thank you for your patience and help thus far.

I split the topic into a new one as your issue is probably not related to the other topic.

PS3 diy USB not working!
Dell I600m
Windows 7 32bit
All Software Downloaded from Official links http://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=DIY ... or_dummies
GIMX v4.3 i386
Firmware v4.3 ( PS3 SIXAXIS EMUPS3 "atmega32u4.hex" )
Teensy Firmware Loader v1.21
Hardware again acquired from links provided from same post.

Console PS3 Slim Model CECH-2501A 160GB HDD Conected via WiFi with HDMI 42" TV
Game Destiny PS3
So the adapter is not working at all I have tested the USB to UART TTL converter and apears to work fine. I also tested wires to make sure they did work and carried signal at all baud rates available.
Teensy Board has been flashed with the latest available firmware v4.3 for the ps3 sixaxis emulation. at this point I have tried to use the adapter in various configurations and steps. plugging into pc first then console power on console then start gimx software and it gives the above error "wait for single object failed" "no controller detected" "connector init failed".
Just noticed this https://github.com/matlo/GIMX/issues/335 Stating that the emups3 firmware is broken. Is this still current and if so can I acquire a previous version that isn't broken?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks again.

the gunk you see on the chip and wires is the electrical tape adhesive I had it all taped and wired up in a project box ready to go only to find out it didn't work and had to take it back apart.

Re: PS3 diy USB not working
The GIMX 4.3 software contains a fix to work-around issue #335, which is a firmware issue.
I tried on a slightly newer laptop running Windows 7 32bits, and I did not have any issue.
Your computer is quite old, I'm not surprised that recent GNU+Linux distros don't work on it.
Do you have any other computer to try? A Raspberry Pi?
