Hello,
Thanks for building this wonderful project and I understand it had not been updated for quite some time now, I'm still reaching for a slim hope that there is someone is still active in the forum and can solve the issue I'm encountering.
log file: https://pastebin.com/ctjY4xSA
My setup is T300GT wheel with SIMAGIC P2000 pedals, and TH8A gear shifter, all plugged into my PC. Hoping to use GiMX to adapt the rig to work on the PS4. When everything is config'd, DS4 plugged into PC after powered off. GiMX boots up and shows as if everything is recognized. When I press the PS button on the wheel, PS4 will recognize the wheel input, and I can indeed drive in GT Sport for a few seconds. FFB also works for a few seconds. But then the GiMX window starts to throw a lot of "Warning: xxx.xxxxxx unhandled packet (type=0x00)"
https://imgur.com/a/H335OF1
When this happens usually the FFB will get stuck, I will feel a constant force turning the wheel to one side and it won't stop at the center. It will just constantly turning the wheel until it hits the dead end. My pedal input will also freeze, it will stuck in game as a constant input (e.g 55% throttle input and it will stuck there no matter what I do with the throttle pedal). As if the GiMX software is just frozen. The game won't react to any button or any input action on my wheel or any device.
Sometimes the FFB will get stuck to constant force for a second, while the wheel and pedal inputs still work in game and I can continue driving until the FFB start responding again to the game. But usually within 10 seconds or so the whole thing will freeze up once again and rendering the rig unusable. The only solution is to close GiMX window and press "start" again in GiMX launcher.
I have flashed the GiMX adapter to EMUG29PS4 a few times and every time GiMX launcher tells me the firmware update was successful. I have also set the config file so the emulating device is indeed G29 PS4. I have also unplugged and replug in the GiMX adapter so I made sure the COM port is the correct one, which is evident since the PS4 will recognize my wheel for a few seconds, until everything freezes up.
I am truly fumbled what could be causing the issue... here is another instance of the issue happening, it happens 100% of the time I try to play.

What I also noticed which is interesting, is that If I set the "Messages" option to log file, the GiMX window will pop up black with no info displayed, but I can still press the PS button on the wheel and start driving in game. Although it freezes up the same after a few seconds, there wouldn't be anything displayed in the window so I can't see the "unhandled packets" warnings. The warnings also do not appear on the log file afterwards:

I found two similar issue on the forum about the "unhandled packet" warning bugs but neither came down to a solution on how to fix it. So I hope some GiMX team members are still active on the forum and can come across my post, so we can discuss what I did wrong in the set up...
I also tried multiple ports on my PC and many different USB 3.0 and 2.0 cables connecting to the PS4. Nothing changes the symptom so...
Thanks in advance.

Re: GiMX Unhandled Packets Causing Freezing and Wheel Unresponsive
Here's my config, in case if it helps identifying the issue:

I have tried "auto detect" the "joystick" for FFB tweaks, setting it all up to 100, setting everything down to 80, tried setting everything to 20. Does not change the symptom. GiMX still freezes up after a few seconds.
Tried setting all FFB to zero, as well as "deleting" the "joystick" from FFB Tweaks "auto detect". Same symptom persists. When the "Joystick" is auto detected to my T300, and setting all FFB value to zero indeed turns off the FFB. But the "unhandled packet" warnings still pop up the same and eventually the GiMX window will freeze up again and the wheel will become unresponsive.

Re: GiMX Unhandled Packets Causing Freezing and Wheel Unresponsive
I have also tried to flash the GiMX adapter to the G27/PC firmware, and reconfiguring the config file with controller type selected as G27/PC. Having both ends plugged into PC for G27 PC emulation (although most games recognize my rig, the SIMAGIC P2000 pedals aren't usually recognized/supported by NFS). After installing Logitech Gaming Software 5.10, the PC does pick up the emulated G27 wheel and all inputs are recognized on the diagram. But pressing the D-pad will cause the wheel to turn by itself, if I press left on d-pad, the wheel will turn all the way to the left, right vice versa. If I press up on the d-pad, the wheel will go back to the center position. With 100% FFB turning force.
I tried NFS 2016 and Forza Horizon 5. I created a new config file with the controller type set to G27 /PS3. Re-config all the axis and buttons correspondingly. I notice none of my "circle / cross / triangle / square" face button works in game, "start / option" "select / share" button some times works but not the function they are usually assigned to. I opened up the in-game button remapping menu and notice in NFS2016, the "circle / cross / triangle / square" face button input are recognized as right analog stick "right / down / up / left" correspondingly. It seems for some reason the config file setting are just not translating correctly onto the emulated wheel.
But at least I was able to drive in game without the adapter freeze up. It does still occasionally throw me a few lines of the "unhandled packet" warning, but not nearly as long as it did on the PS4. I would have 3 lines of "unhandled packet" warning after 5 minutes of driving. But I just have to do all other in game action via my keyboard since the face buttons on the wheel aren't recognized correctly, and there aren't more buttons I can change in GiMX Config. Unless I individually remap each button in every single game I'd like to play.
But for NFS2016 there literally is no remap function for keys like "confirm" and "cancel", so you wouldn't be able to continue a conversation using the wheel at all. Which is just confusing since the config I made is identical to what was displayed in the picture above. I mapped my "circle" button to the "circle" function on the emulated wheel. But apparently the "circle" on the emulated wheel is interpreted as a right analog stick input in game.
To make it even more confusing, in Logitech Gaming Software, as well as Windows Game Controller Control Panel, the "circle" button press is indeed recognized as a press on the "circle" face button (or the right side face button of the four).
I should also add I am on Windows 11, if that affects anything.
By this point, I have exhausted my technical know-how and I truly do not understand in which step of the emulation everything just went so horribly wrong. Please help.

Hey
This forum is very quiet and has been like that for couple of months.
I'm still semi active here, watching every new posts.
(Most from spam bots).
I would suggest you try Windows 10 if you are able to.
Drivers are not updated for the newer Windows version.

Hey thank you for responding! Yea I anticipated it would be a bit quiet since the project is not being actively developed anymore. But thank you so much for getting back to me!ckaiycool wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 10:51 pm Hey![]()

I kinda thought Windows 11 might be the culprit. I will give Win 10 a try once I have it installed and configured on my spare drive. Hopefully it might bring me some better luck.
Re: GiMX Unhandled Packets Causing Freezing and Wheel Unresponsive
Windows 10 made no difference, same issue same symptoms.
However I did managed to get it to work, by rolling back to version 7.15. Apparently whatever was changed in the version 8.0 update has caused the strange "unhandled packets" behavior. Which is not seen when using with the same adapter and the same config file. I still get the note of "debug packet received" but that's that. The conversion happens as it should. No discernible input lag either.
G27 emulation on PC is still giving me key mapping issues but I guess it is also per game basis and remapping in game could serve as a workaround.
I'm just glad I finally get to play GT Sport on my PS4 again. When is GT7 going on sale? ;^)
Hope this helps anyone with the same issue and if they stumble upon this post. But for the time being I will enjoy my GTS driving school.
Thanks again for making GiMX a thing.

Well done
I might be completely wrong here but i think i have seen it said on other threads.
Have you installed the newest logitech drivers for the wheel on windows?
Drivers for the wheel might be the issue.

Re: GiMX Unhandled Packets Causing Freezing and Wheel Unresponsive
I appreciate your input. By this point it's all trial and error either way.
I had to go with Logitech Gaming Software v5.10 cuz the latest LGS or Logitech Gaming Hub won't recognize G27.
I don't know if there is a separate wheel driver that can be downloaded. I thought it was all integrated in the gaming software package.
