Hi,
I’ve built a gimx as described. I did the “help -> update firmware” thing. The adapter gets recognized from windows. I was able to configure the input settings. When I connect it to ps5 it says “choosing baudrate” etc. and shows my Simucube as device. But on the PlayStation 5 nothing happens. I’m still waiting for my drive hub to arrive. But shouldn’t the gimx and my wheel already work with my ps5 for 8 minutes? Or did I built my gimx wrong?
I’m using a CP2102 serial converter and a arduino Micro pro with an atmega32u4. I couldn’t find a tutorial so I connected gnd with gnd. And the other two tx and rx. I switched the connection after getting an error. And now the gimx seems to work. But the ps5 doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried with g27 firmware (without ds4) and g29 firmware with ds4. But nothing happens. Flashing seems successful.
So my question is, shouldn’t the gimx still work with my ps5 for 8 minutes without drive hub? I’ve also ordered a hori mini.
Edit: I’ve managed to get it running. On PS4 it runs without issues. On PS5 it runs 8 minutes. Waiting for my Drive hub. If anyone is interested, I have a ps5 pro and it’s working.
But something odd is happening. I have a ps5 in my home in another country with a Simucube 2 pro, gimx, hori mini and drive hub and am driving that combo for 4 months now without any problems. But I am using the g27 firmware and changed the Logitech mode to the fanalabs mode on drive hub. Here is the odd thing. I am running my sc2 pro with 25Nm at 100% in true drive and 100% in gimx config. I’m using FFB and sensivity at 5/5 on GT7 on PS5 and with most cars it feels perfect. Only with gt1 cars I turn it down to 1/1 or 2/2.
I’ve built a rig at my parents house now with my old Simucube 1 with small mige with 20Nm. I have set the FFB in Simucube software to 100% and in gimx config to 100%. I’m using the wheel in G29 mode. And ingame I had to turn down FFB and sensivity to 1/1 and it’s still too strong. Almost brakes my arms. Effects like driving over curbs cause big kicks in the wheel.
I wonder if that is because I don’t run the fanalabs mode? Or is it because I run it in G29 mode? How can a 20Nm base be stronger at lower settings than a 25Nm base at 5x stronger settings?
Sure I’m using a 2.4kg heavy 320mm wheel on the sc2 pro and a 280mm 1.3kg F1 wheel now. But still the difference shouldn’t be that huge.
