Don't see why it shouldn't.
As long as any controller is connected to your PC it should be recogniced in GIMX.

Wish i could help you guys when it comes to wheels but unfortunately i don't own any.

I have updated ALL Playstation 3, OG Xbox configs with the same principal as i have described here. My mouse is set to 12000 DPI as the configs are in GIMX. Dead zone and X/Y ratio is slightly different than GOW1. Got back and forth with dead zone to find the sweet spot.
