After much testing, I've figured out that my computer doesn't constantly run LGS for some reason and when the adapter is plugged in it doesn't recognise the wheel as a DFGT, it's some light blue rimmed thing, DFP maybe. So my fix is to start the LGS before GIMX, but I found an issue where about 5-10...

I already have done unfortunately, it had been installed previous to the mod and I've since uninstalled, redownloaded, and installed again. Does it need to just be installed or do I have to map buttons in that program as well? I could try running that program before gimx to see if that helps.
