Non-Logitech wheel support over DirectInput (WIP)
Re: Some interesting reading regarding GIMX and DI support
No problem. There is a lot of good information in there. I know the guys over at vJoy are desperate to get FFb working in an intuitive fashion so I believe there's a common interest there. Shaul and Trafiken are pretty good at understanding FFB. Jackun is fairly knowledgeable as well. Racer_S is on a whole 'nother level though....
Re: Some interesting reading regarding GIMX and DI support
Just got the spring and damper effects to work with a test program
This shows the feature is possible. I'll try to make it real, but I can't promise any date.

The following effects will be supported first:
It works fine with my Logitech wheel, but it would be more interesting to test it against non-Logitech wheels.
Do you currently own a DI-compatible non-Logitech wheel?
Also, is the email address you provided at registration still valid?
- constant
- spring
- damper

Great news Matlo! That is very encouraging to hear. Yes I'm using the same email. Be happy to Beta test the build on my new Bodnar wheel which, yes...is a DI wheel with no connection to Logitech.Matlo wrote:The following effects will be supported first:I added support for these effects in the GIMX input library.

As you can see this package is sold with just the wheel itself, so looks like I'm going to need to setup and take advantage of the GIMX multi-device options in order to use my pedals and two shifters(one H-pattern and one Sequential). Which isn't a problem since I'm running directly from my PC to the console and prefer to run it that way.
Go ahead and send me an email with the link to the beta build Matlo and I'll be more than happy test it when I get home later today and share my results. Very exciting times!!!

Re: Some interesting reading regarding GIMX and DI support
In the meantime, since I'm here stuck at work and bored, there is something I am curious about with this new beta....when attempting to use my Bodnar wheel, will the PS4 continue to see the GIMX adapter as a Logitech wheel?
If the answer if yes, then where will the console tell the forces to go? Won't it be looking for a real Logitech wheel? Will the forces be re-routed to the Bodnar wheel?
If the answer is no, and using the DI Bodnar wheel means the console will see the adapter as a dual-shock 4, then how do you expect the proper wheel forces to be delivered? Won't the game deliver only generic rumble and not *true* FFB at this point?
The reason I ask, is because the PS3 or PS4 game needs to think there is a *real* steering wheel connected to it or else it won't deliver true steering wheel force feedback...only generic controller rumble. So I'm interested in reading how you've been able to get it to deliver true FFB without a real Logitech wheel.

Yes, the PS4 will see the GIMX adapter as a Logitech wheel.
What I want to achieve is to have GIMX translating the FFB commands from the Logitech protocol to DI FFB effects.
I sent an email to you.
