Question about EMUG27PS3 firmware

Post by Ace »

After successfully getting my G25 working on my PlayStation 4 using EMUG29PS4 on both my Windows 10 laptop and Raspberry Pi, something else came to mind.

One of my biggest annoyances with the G25 is the amount of noise in the force feedback mechanism, and now that I have a Thrustmaster TX, the G25's force feedback is starting to get quite irritating, not to mention I have a bit of a hard time with Project Cars on the G25 due to the lack of buttons on the wheel for the extra Driving Force GT controls on the G29. As such, I'm considering actually replacing this thing with a G29 (although helical gears can get quite noisy, the noise is not consistently loud like the G25, and the G27 is known to have problems with its optical encoder that I don't feel like dealing with), and that's where the EMUG27PS3 firmware question comes in. Normally, on a PlayStation 3, the G29 behaves like a Driving Force GT, which means no clutch, no rev LEDs and no H-pattern shifter. Is EMUG27PS3 able to make the G29 behave as though it were a G27 on the PlayStation 3 with full force feedback and rev LEDs?

And on an unrelated note, does the G29 work on the PlayStation 2?

Yes, the EMUG27PS3 firmware fully emulates a G27, including force feedback, leds, and H shifter :)
I think the G27 can work with a PS2.

Terrific, another reason for me to ditch the G25. In all honesty, I have no idea why Logitech didn't AT LEAST give an option to use the G29 as a Driving Force GT or G27 on the PlayStation 3 depending on the PS3/PS4 switch's position in the first place. At least I now have the option to do that once I get a G29 and reflash my AVR to EMUG27PS3 firmware.

I might as well add one more question: can the G29 work in native mode on the Raspberry Pi, and if so, in what position does the PS3/PS4 switch need to be? I would assume PS4, but I just want to be sure.

Is that a typo or do you actually mean the G27? I know the G27 works on the PlayStation 2, but I've found conflicting information regarding the G29, so I need to know if the G29 does or does not work on the PlayStation 2.

The native mode is indeed the PS4 mode.
I have no idea if the G29 can work with a PS2.
