Why do we need high DPI mice?

In the above video Logitech says that their mice DPI settings are bullshit. They say that all their mice don't operate anywhere close to the maximum DPI you can set it to, and that setting it to those high DPI settings actually decreases the accuracy. They say in the video that setting the mice to anything above the native values just adds more uncertianty and noise to the value.

I know, but if you watched the video Logitech says their mice DPI claims are all bullshit, the actual DPI is much much lower than the advertised, and when you set your mouse to a DPI higher than the native DPI you just add noise and uncertianty.

He's saying that only the native resolution matters.

The adns-9800 sensor advertises a 8200cpi resolution. It's used in the latest high-end mouse generation. I don't know if this is a native resolution. Maybe they are enhancing the resolution using multiple frames for each report.
