GIMX does'nt want to work... I desperatly need Help

Post by Aikimaniac »

Hello Everyone,

I think I have tried every noob solution but nothing seems to make my Home made Gimx Adapter working on my Gaming PC.

I have trouble using the GIMX adapter on my main computer

I am sure that concerning the GIMX Adapter, hardware wise, it should be OK: I have installed the firmware and tested the GIMX adapter on my laptop and everything looks to be working fine, I can upload and change firmware on the device and Gimx works fine and is detected as a G29 as intended.
Tested on Gamepad-tester.com and working just fine. (TX is soldered on RX)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/13fBXmZ ... share_link
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QzHPXT ... share_link

Both my laptop and my gaming PC are running Win 10 Pro

The Problem occurs on my main PC :

- Impossible to get the Gimx loader upload any firmware on the Adapter (error prompt: No new peripheral detected within 10 sec)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LBFjyV ... share_link
I do follow the instruction and unplug-replug the usb cable end of the Adapter (the Arduino Pro Micro part)

- Impossible to get the Gimx launcher working (error prompt: No dualshock 4 controller detected)(Yes I am sure I choose the right COM Port)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MKlth6 ... share_link

the USB cable should be fine because obviously it works on the laptop but I have tried some other ones just in case to exclude this possibility
with no success
I have tried to change USB ports
with no success
I have tried to un-use USB hub (the GIMX adapter is plugged on the PC ports directly on the PC anyway)
with no success
I have tried to uninstall - reboot - Reinstall - reboot GIMX and USBDK
with no success

Here are my logs
Log File
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qjM3iQ ... share_link
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18_0U4A ... share_link
XML File
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ybxz_c ... share_link
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IME6Ss ... share_link

Don't know if it's relevant but as my USB to UART Bridge wasn't properly recognize by my Main PC I'd installed this driver from Silicon Labs
https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-t ... =downloads
So, it is shown like this on both my computers (with different COM port of course)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/19iverT ... share_link

Don't know if it's relevant but on my main PC, when I try to use GIMX there are plenty of irrelevant COM port to choose between, and the one with the GIMX adapter attached on is not the only one present nor the easiest to pop up...

Thank you If you had the patience to read all of my crap!!!
I would have loved to be able to jump right into it without bothering you guys but I desperately need the help of more advance users here...

Have you connected the controller to your main pc? and made sure you start the Playstation 4 with the power button and not using the PS button on the controller?

Hi ckaiycool,

Thanks for stopping by...

I am intending on playing on PC, my goal is to emulate a G29 while I am playing with a Fanatec Wheel (GT DD Pro)
As I always get a prompt stating that a Dualshock 4 isn't plugged in USB port, I did try to plug a Dualshock 4 on my Gaming PC with exactly the same result:

Dualshock 4 not connected prompt:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MKlth6 ... share_link

I guess it has something to do with my gaming PC not with the GIMX Adapter which works fine on my laptop...

So I am plugging both ends of the GIMX Adapter to my PC Arduino Pro Micro/USB to UART, again, it works flawlessly on the laptop but not on the gaming PC (RTX 3090 - Ryzen 9 3900X - 64Go RAM)

If Anyone could come with any clue it would be very much appreciated...

Did you get a prompt to accept some drive during install of gimx? (would you like to install this device software?) if not then i assume it's what makes the error.
Please try to remove driver both Gimx and CP210x drivers.
Reboot.

Pause your antivirus program for 5 minutes just to be safe it does not interfere.

Install gimx and at each step wait couple of 5-10 seconds, because if you miss the prompt to install a certain driver there will be issues.
Reboot when done.
Hopefully it works.

Hey ckaiycool,

Thanks for your concern and for trying to be helpfull...

I Have Cleaned every traces of GIMX from my computer uninstalled the software and cleaned up the AppData Roaming Gimx Files
then Uninstalled USBDK
Then I plugged my GIMX Adapter and in device manager I uninstalled it and cleared the driver.
I rebooted my computer and went for a clean reinstall of GIMX 8.0 (gimx-8.0-x86_64.exe) I've launched it with adminstrator rights.
Gimx installed and finished with a prompt:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nannCa ... share_link
Stating I needed a reboot to complete the installation of UsbDK so I rebooted the computer once again.

"Did you get a prompt to accept some drive during install of gimx? (would you like to install this device software?) if not then i assume it's what makes the error."
When you said that GIMX needed to install some other stuff, were you refering to that? because I didn't get any other prompt than this one

I plugged back my Gimx Adaptor choose the right COM port and still the same issue
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MKlth6 ... share_link

Nothing seems to work, Am I desperate???
Any Admin could have a look at my issue please???

I Could really appreciate a bit of help here...
Thank you all for your time and help

Cheers from France

Try installing the DS4 Driver https://github.com/Jays2Kings/DS4Window ... indows.zip
Then reboot, try gimx.

I'm out of ideas after that.

Try making a new Windows user account, log in there, install gimx there and try again there to check if it works on new account. This sometimes works for extremely hard to trace problems with software.

Hello ckaiycool,
Hello GoDlike,

First let me thank you both fot your kind help and I am glad to keep you informed through my GIMX Journey...

I have listen to both of your advices and came up with just a little bit of improvement here...

First ckaicool, I have used the link you have given me with the Dualshock driver and stuff (I already had it on my computer ...)
When I use the software DS4, there is a prompt asking me to install the DS4 Driver, no matter how many times I try the driver doesn't want to install and every time I open DS4 the prompt reappears, )Don't really know why I thing I used to use this software with no issue a long time ago...)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S6tUPv ... share_link
No devices are shown in the controllers sections of DS4 as espected even when the Dualshock IS connected but nevertheless, Windows is seeing the dualshock 4 as a "Wireless Controller" (eventhough it is wirely connected) and gamepad-tester.com sees it as what it is a PS4 Dualshock. So the Controller is recognized by the computer and fully operational.
I conclude that it's very likely that my issue is related with USB connections and Drivers that won't install and stuff...

Secondly GoDlike, I have tried exactly what you've mentionned per say, creating a new account for windows (with my sons Microsoft ID...) re-installed and tried out Gimx and the result is...

- I Still can't upload any Firmware into the GIMX Adapter, it just won't work
BUT...
- I don't really know which of the above somehow tweaked my PC but I have a little improvement on my GIMX Journey:
Now, for some reason I got pass through the "no dualshock 4 found on the USB ports" prompt!!!!
Yeah!!! First Victory afterall, is it???

Here is my new logs when

I plug a Dualshock with the Dualshock 4 config file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V6RoGC ... share_link

I plug my Fanatec Wheel (GT DD Pro) with My custom Config File:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fQRKQb ... share_link

Both finishes with

"Sortie
src/windows/gprio.c:105 restoreprocess: SetProcessAffinityMask failed with error: Accès refusé.
src/windows/gprio.c:105 restoreprocess: SetProcessAffinityMask failed with error: Accès refusé."
in French So I guess in English
"Exit/output?
src/windows/gprio.c:105 restoreprocess: SetProcessAffinityMask failed with error: Access denied.
src/windows/gprio.c:105 restoreprocess: SetProcessAffinityMask failed with error: Access denied."

Do you guys see any improvement here?
Does it give you any lead on what could be the cause of my troubles?

Thank you for your patience and you guys kind Help, really appreciate it!

Love from France

Yes, Windows kind of recognize the PS4 controller, although it’s not clearly stated DualShock 4, windows calls it wireless controller (even when it is plug in through USB, the inputs are recognized in gamepad-tester.com and the controller is clearly seen as a PS4 controller there)

One more update that I forgot to telle you guys in the last post…
Because I had no results whatsoever I tried to install previous versions of the GIMX software on the PC… But the results were always the same:

Impossibility of loading firmware on the adapter
And
No DualShock 4 seen on USB ports

Just so you know guys…
