EDIT - Mini tutorial provided here so you don't need to read through everything

GIMX is able to help you get Ridge Racer 7 working with force feedback on PS3 with another wheel
I just happened to use a Logitech G29

A few things to note:

1. GIMX firmware needs to be EMUDF.hex <-- Driving Force PS2
2. Your PS3 needs to have WebMan disabled
3. The game can't be the platinum version
- BLUS30001-[Ridge Racer 7] works
- BCES00009 - [Ridge Racer 7 Platinum Edition] does not work
4. The controller settings under options won't mention the wheel, but it works well

Hi

Could someone please give me some help getting Ridge Racer 7 to work with force feedback?

I've seen that GIMX makes it possible (only one certain wheel was originally supported), but I'm lost as to which firmware/hardware/software combination to use

Either on a PS3 or by RPCS3 emulator is fine

I have a DIY GIMX Arduino Pro Micro adapter, Logitech Driving Force GT, Logitech G29, CFW PS3, Beefy gaming PC, Raspberry Pi etc

Help getting it working greatly appreciated

Specifically, would someone mind explaining which GIMX firmware is required to get FFB working in Ridge Racer 7, plus any tips on the configuration?

It should work on PS3 firmware. Please check guide on main wiki page - https://gimx.fr/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Please don't double post.

Thanks

So flash Pro Micro with EMUPS3.hex

and then, with the mappings in gimx-config under type, do I choose Dualshock 3, Driving Force PS2, G27 PS3 / PC or something different?

Gave it a try, but I think EMUPS3.hex just emulates a sixaxis controller

I assume the different .hex files indicate what the GIMX hardware will be detected as

In the case of Ridge Racer 7 on the PS3, the only controller that had Force Feedback support with it was the Logitech Driving Force Ex (Fx in Japan)

Does that mean I need a firmware that displays GIMX as a Driving Force Ex?

In the firmware section, I only see the driving wheel related files EMUDF, EMUDFP, EMUG27, EMUG29PS4, EMUGTF (plus non-wheel files EMU360, EMUJOYSTICK, EMUPS3, EMUPS4, EMUXBOX, EMUXONE)

Am I to assume that as there is no EMUDFEX.hex, that what I am trying to do is not possible?

PS - I know that my hardware works fine as I was able to load the EMUG27 firmware and have my G29 which is usually detected as a DFGT, work as a G27 including gear stick and force feedback etc in Need For Speed Shift 2 on the PS3
