Is the Teensy 2.0 w/ pins really the only board to make an adapter?

It appears that the Teensy 2.0 w/ pins is sold out everywhere...
There are many ++ versions and 3.0 versions but according to the DIY guide those do not work.

Is there another board that is more available that would work?

I get that you can soldered pins and can get ones without it. But its also something to look into for future use as the supplier sites states:

"PJRC has sufficient inventory to keep Teensy 2.0 available until at least March 2022, assuming sales continue at the 2019-2021 rate. We do expect to discontinue Teensy 2.0 in 2022. 32 bit Teensy boards are recommended for new projects"

So the converter board will have to updated in the future anyway.

Hej mate.
Buy Arduino pro micro ATMEGA32U4 instead.
I highly recommend solder the wires just to remove any interference. (really easy to solder as long as you have a small tip solder iron.)
Or you can buy from the gimx shop. https://blog.gimx.fr/product/gimx-adapter/
