Can GIMX make PC think a controller(DS4) is a wheel(G29)?

Post by GyroFanboy »

I've been trying to get good gyro steering setup in Forza Horizon 4 (among others), but they filter controller steering to make it work better on a joystick. Since I map the gyro onto the joystick for gyro steering, the joystick filtering interferes with the gyro input. Because of this, I want to have my controller treated like a G29 wheel by my pc.

Is it possible to do this with GIMX, perhaps by taking an existing config that maps something to a G29 and replacing the inputs with my controller's inputs so I have a config that takes DS4 input and outputs as a G29?
If so, would a setup like the following be correct? DS4 connected to PC1 which is running GIMX, then the GIMX adapter connecting PC1 to PC2, and PC2 will detect a G29

If not, are there any other tools I might consider? So far in trying to make this happen I've tried DS4Windows and Joystick Gremlin and while those do the mapping part, FH4 has to detect a wheel to use bindings for a wheel.

You can try firmware EMUG29PS4 and bind keys for your controller.
