Subposition checkbox?

I noticed this is a checkbox.. what is the recommended situation where this should be checked, since it is not checked by default.
This relates to something I wrote on the blog some time ago: link.
Consider this as experimental. I didn't tested it a lot myself as I'm using gimx-serial a lot more than gimx-bluetooth.
