Ubuntu installation dependency issues (libusb-1.0-0)

Post by AlexAffe »

:?:
Hi,
I tried to install the current version of GIMX (3.1-1) 64 bit version on my Ubuntu (3.8.0-31-generic). I cannot install it, because my libusb version is higher than GIMX needs (it's 2:1.0.16 instead of 1.0-0).

I tried a few things (to no avail), like installing the libusb-dev package (I am not too sure how GIMX makes use of that automatically). I did not find any particular information other than update software sources (apt-get update) and so on. The package libusb is not available in version 1.0-0 in the repositories (universe already added).
Please, can somebody help me with the installation?

Thanks and have a good day,

AlexAffe

EDIT:
I seem to have misunderstood the error message. I have libusb-1.0-0 version 1.0.9~rc3-2ubuntu1 and I need something greater than 1.0.16. Sorry for that, I just figured it out. Now I am trying to upgrade this package. Let's see how that works out. Cheers!

Okay, seems I was running a very old LTS version of Linux. I upgraded to newest (14.something) and got everything set up.
