"Error" messagebox saying "Can't retrieve configs!"

Post by nesreb »

First, awesome project and community. Thanks for everything you guys have done.

I have two quick questions, and then I'll share details on the issue I'm having.

Question 1: Is there a known issue retrieving configs from the launcher with Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS?
Question 2: Is there a link where I can manually download configs and just manually copy them to
my ~/.gimx/config folder?
The only two configs I'm really interested in are:
-Dualshock4.xml
-LogitecthG27_G29.xml.

Detailed history of what I've attempted to download configs:

I'm trying to set up a G27 wheel to work with my PS4. The DIY adapter seems
to work fine, but I can't download configs with the launcher.

OS: ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS (trusty) with the latest updates applied.
GIMX version: gimx_5.8-1_amd64.deb

Tried:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling gimx several times.
-Changing owner of my .gimx folders in my home directory.
-Searching FAQs:
-http://gimx.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=756 (old info)
-http://gimx.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5& ... ieve#p8567

-Putting my machine in my router's dmz, so nothing is blocked.
-Turning off the firewall on linux.

Steps to reproduce:
1. I run gimx-launcher from the command line within my user's home dir (and my user
has admin privileges).
2. I then see a messagebox saying "No config found! Download configs?" and I click "Yes"
3. The "Config download" dialog opens. It says "Select the files to download."
It only permits selection of one item, but there are around 32 list items.
I click any one of the list items, then click the "OK" button.
4. I see a new "Error" messagebox saying "Can't retrieve configs!"
5. Then the Gimx-launcher window appears. I select Help > Get configs from the menu bar,
but I get the same "Error" messagebox saying "Can't retrieve configs!"

If I launch the gimx-config app and save a config, I can see it in my
.gimx/config folder. The gimx-config app also picks up my button presses.
However, I must manually rename the file after saving so it has a file extension of
".xml" (or I guess I can add ".xml" in the filename dialog when I save it).

If I relaunch gimx-launcher, it sees my new manual config.
I select DIY USB and click the "Check" button and a messagebox says "This config seem OK!"

I'm hoping there's an easy workaround that I just haven't seen, or there's
a site I can download configs manually.

Thanks!

Strange issue. I can't reproduce it on my side.
Using wireshark to check the http requests could help understanding the issue.
