8 months working flawlessly now broken?

Post by ikaros »

Hey guys!

Im super happy with my gimx adapter until today when it stopped working.
I have been extremely careful with handling it and it is a prebuilt unit that lasted 8 months.
It has a good cable that was supplied from GimX.

When i try to connect it says:

global option -l with value `log.txt'
global option -c with value `TX_PS4_AOM.xml'
controller #1: option -p with value `COM3'
now reading arguments for controller #2
status flag is set
subpos flag is set
force_updates flag is set
auto-grab flag is set
GIMX 8.0 x86_64
Windows 10 (or later) x64
Kernel version: 10.0 (19041)
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

In my devices list i have:

Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (COM3)

and i sure can see it in launcher too.

when i try to make a FW update the dialog says it did not detect a new device being connected/disconnected during those 10 seconds.

PLEASE HELP or send new unit :D
It worked perfectly yesterday......

Please try with another USB cable. Official adapters fail very rarely but cables, they're other story.

I have tried with several other cables. No success.
Its funny how it seems to be the only solution to many problems (searched the forum), but in this case not a single one out of three cables made it miracolously work...
The other cables i tested with, I use the same cables for charging my PS4 controllers and for my banking dongle, works flawlessly in those cases.

To be extremely clear: The dongle has been treated like a princess, the cable aswell.

Since i bought this item about 8 months ago and we are in the EU, and it all comes down to blameing third party cables in the end, and this is a GENUINE UNIT WITH GENUINE CABLE, maybe it is possible to file a complaint for reimbursal or a new unit?

When you got the cable were you already using the latest version of GIMX 8.0 or was it 7.15 because if you updated to 8.0 you have to update the firmware as well otherwise it will not work.
Please Remember to Post your Log file in the support section , that way its easier and faster to start identifying the issue thus helping you to sort it out so you can enjoy GIMX :D .

The adapter must be connected to the gaming console, and the gaming console must be turned on, otherwise the software will not be able to connect and you will get the "Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter" messages. Another cause for this message to appear is a faulty connection between the adapter and the gaming console. Rarely the micro USB plug can break despite the reinforcement, and when this happens the junction feels loose at micro USB plug.

If you can't get it to work, please contact customer support using the email address provided at the bottom of product page. Make sure to include your order number in your message.
