Inputs not being sent to Xbox One S

Post by PappaYeet »

Hello. I have recently purchased a GIMX from the official shop but I am having an issue with getting it working.

Issue: When plugged in, the GIMX program detects the correct mouse and keyboard inputs, but nothing happens on the Xbox One.

Steps: This is the procedure I have followed:
  • Download and install the GIMX software for Windows 10
  • Install the CP210x driver and usbdk driver from the GIMX/Tools folder
  • Plug in Xbox controller and update driver through device manager
  • Flash GIMX USB with XONE firmware
  • Reboot
  • Turn Xbox One and PC on
  • Plug small end of GIMX into Xbox One, wait 5 seconds
  • Plug large end of GIMX USB into PC, wait 5 seconds
  • Plug Xbox controller into PC
  • Start GIMX software, select config and set messages to Log File
  • Start GIMX. Press the Xbox controller button for 2 seconds when prompted
The command prompt window displays all of the inputs made with the keyboard and mouse. Nothing happens on the Xbox One.

Log file here: https://pastebin.com/AN3nVScr
Note: When the command prompt first opens, it reads:

Code: Select all

src/windows/gprio.c:26 gprio: failed to set priority class

Specs:
  • Windows 10, 10.0.18363 Build 18363
  • Xbox controller model 1708, firmware 4.8.1923.0, default Windows drivers
  • GIMX Adapter from official store, driver is Silicon Labs 10.1.8.2466
  • Laptop touchpad disabled, mouse with 5000DPI and 500hz refresh rate
  • Built-in laptop keyboard
  • Xbox One S

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can provide more information if needed. Thanks.

Please generate a debug log file with 'controller' and 'usb_con' checked.

Here's the log with those options set: https://pastebin.com/3fmf4d8f.

Is it worth noting that I often get the following error when starting?

Code: Select all

../gimxcommon/src/windows/async.c:327 async_read_timeout: ReadFile failed: timeout expired.
Error: failed to read packet header from the GIMX adapter
I usually just unplug and replug the adapter until it works but was wondering if there is a better way.

Is the micro USB cable fully inserted into the adapter? Are you using the cable provided with the adapter? Does it look in good condition?

The cable looks fine. It doesn’t plug all the way in but the light comes on and I couldn’t get it to go any further. Here’s a photo: https://i.imgur.com/Sbcrnj7.jpg

Is this maybe the controller firmware issue that some others have been having?

I’ve borrowed a controller from my friend, one with firmware version 3.1. It now works perfectly.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm wanting to add support for newer controller firmware, but I am currently lacking time for this.

So the xbox one controller with a new firmware can't work right now? I just meet the same problem, but it is impossible for me to find a controller with an old firmware
