Hi Matlo.

Update: I installed Linux MINT and GIMX.
I had to play around with devices names but in the end I was able to "port" the configuration.

The problem is the same. wheel works, no force feedback.

Here's the debug log.

(Maybe I missed something, I am really not expert at all in Linux env...)

Ciao,

Paolo

This is probably a hardware issue.
Are you using a USB HUB or a USB extender?
If yes, try to plug the wheel to the computer directly.
Also, did you plug the power supply to the wheel?

I did a quick test and did not see any issue with my Wingman Formula Force wheel and Linux Mint 18.1.

Hi Matlo.
Thanks...but I think I am at a stuck point...because of my Linux poor knowledge.

I confirm that it's not usb issue (i tried them all and always same outcome). The power supply is connected.

I tried to test ffb using fftest (i previously found the correct "event"). Some effects work...some others are very weak...some others do not work at all.

I searched google for some help, and i think i have some issues with iForce drivers. In src/drivers/input/joystick/iforce i do not have the file iforce.h.
I tried to download iforce packets but i have problems in compiling/installing them.

Could it be the case?
If you have by chance any quick advice on how to check if drivers are correctly installed...it would be highly appreciated...otherwise i will keep trying to understand the basics.

Thanks anyways.

Hi,
I think you have hit a bug in Linux Mint. The FF commands should be directly sent to the device, and not through the FF driver. I'll try to fix it and make a test package so that you can check the fix is valid.

Could you please post the output of the 'dmesg' command just after starting GIMX in Linux Mint?

Hi Matlo.

So, I typed dmesg right at Mint startup.

Here's the result.

Then I started GIMX, launched it, exited with SHIFT+ESC and then I run again dmesg.

Here's the second output.

If I misunderstood some steps, just let me know.

Thanks a lot,

My statement about this wheel not using the iforce driver was wrong.
It turns out I have the Wingman Formula Force GT, which does not work the same as its predecessor.
I'll try to fix this issue. I'll keep you posted.

Please try this test version:
https://gimx.fr/download/5c2853a449fa21 ... 1_i386.deb
And post a log file with debug flag ff_conv enabled in case you still get issues.

Hi Matlo.

Thanks a lot for your effort.
I think we are close but not yet "there".

When "Assetto Corsa" stops loading the track (i.e. when the first bit of force feedback is applied to the wheel) then the PC freezes completely, and the UART led gets switched off. no keyboard or mouse. only hard switch off of the PC works.

I also tried a brand new installation of MINT 18.1, but nothing changed.

Here's the log.

The last part
> ack
keep sending last even

is repeated again and again (the log file is 32Mb!!!)...

I am available to provide any additional info.

Thanks, ciao,

Paolo
