Wingman Formula Force usb (red wheel) PS4

Post by pimpi84 »

Hi all.

I'll try to be brief and of course 100% available to provide any additional info if needed.

What I have:

- PC with Windows Vista 32 bit and LGS software and GIMX 6.3
- TIAO board (
- PS4 pro (target game is Assetto Corsa)
- Logitech Driving Force (PS2 wheel)
- Logitech Wingman Formula Force (red wheel)

Current status:

- I was able to make Driving Force wheel work 100% (with full ffb)
- I was able to make Wingman Formula force to work 50% (everything perfect except ffb); there is absolutely no ffb, not even vibration or spring return
- On pc through LGS, wingman formula force has full ffb

At GIMX startup , before pressing PS button , I get about 10 lines saying "Unhandled descriptor type 0x25", both when I use Driving Force and Formula Force, but after pressing PS button, GIMX works fine, except that I do not have ffb on the Formula Force wheel.

Do you have any ideas/suggestions? If needed, I could post logs this evening.

Thank you in advance, and compliments for this great piece of software! Good job!

Ciao,

Paolo

Hi Matlo.

Here below my configuration.
Summaryzing:
- Formula Force wheel and controls work, but no force feedback
- Driving force wheel and controls and ffb work 100% (config is quite the same except names)

Just to let you know, today I installed W7 32bit (instead of Vista), but nothing changed.
I also tried to install and use usblibk drivers for DS4, but nothing changed.

At GIMX startup I get some lines saying "unhandled descriptor 0x24" (and 0x25), about 15 in total.

Just let me know if you need anything additional.

Thanks a lot, ciao,

Paolo

Re: Wingman Formula Force usb (red wheel) PS4

Post by pimpi84 »

Hello.

Some more (maybe unuseful) updates.
I downloaded F1 2016 demo, same situation.
Formula Force wheel works but there is no force feedback at all.

I noticed that when I plug the DS4 to the PC (DS4 powered off), the back light glues orange only 1 time, then it gets permanently switched off.
I don't know if this might help.

Maybe this misbehavior is due to the fact that I am running a PS4 PRO?

It's just strange that one wheel works perfectly with force feedback, and the other one works without force feedback (even though in windows it has full force feedback).

Could be any helpful try to run GIMX under MINT OS?
Any other ideas I could try?

Thanks, ciao,

Paolo

Post a log file with debug>ff_lg enabled.

Hi Matlo.

I created two log debug files flagging ff_lg. One with the Wingman Formula Force, and the other with the Driving FOrce.

Same steps, same USB ports.

This is the Wingman Formula Force debug log file.

This is the Driving Force debug log file (extract).

Of course let me know for any additional information you might need.

Thanks a lot Matlo, have a nice day.

Try this config: http://pastebin.com/raw/Zv08r2kD

I moved the wheel controls to the top, before the DS4 controls.
GIMX only considers the first joystick device as the target for force feedback effects.

It definitely makes sense!

That's actually pretty much the only difference between my config for the Driving Force and the one for the Formula Force!
I did not think about it at all.

I will try it soon and provide feedback on the result.

Thanks a lot Matlo!

Hi.

Unfortunately it did not work out.

I used the config you gave me, but still no force feedback, and gimx console started printing lines saying

"windows/async.c:510 write_internal: WriteFile failed with error: Parametro non corretto."

So I made a debug log with lg_ff checked and this is the result.

So, something changed for sure, but still not working, unfortunately.
Just let me know if you need any additional information...waiting for a miracle of yours ;).

Thanks, ciao,

Paolo

This is strange, none of the commands sent to the wheel succeeds.

I also own this wheel. When I tested it using Linux Mint it worked fine. The issue is probably specific to Windows.
