Teensy 3.0 not being detected by PS3

Hiya!

I have a teensy 3
i have set it up using all of the instructions provided on the wiki for the DIY USB adapter (so the teensy is running the atmega32u4 firmware)
but it is not being detected by my PS3
I'm guessing that is because i am using the teensy 3 instead of the teensy 2
could anybody confirm that or have i done something else wrong?
If it is because i have the teensy 3 is there any firmware i can update it with to make it work?

I use Windows 7
the config i test it with is the battlefield 3 config

The chip of the teensy 3.0 is not listed as compatible with GIMX.
This means there is no firmware available for this board.

is there going to be a firmware released for it?
or am i best just buying teensy 2?

Just buy a Teensy 2.0.
