It seems on an usb problem!

I think ubuntu recognizes the USB Ports as USB1.1!

Just open terminal and do as Superuser "lsusb"

sudo lsusb

Their you can see what Speedport are your USB ports.. like here: Image

Just make a copy here, and i will see..

I don't think it's a usb issue, unless you are using a weak usb hub/extender.

Do you guys use Ubuntu 64bits or 32bits?

EDIT: It does not seem to depend on the Ubuntu version (32/64bits) as I can't reproduce the issue with Ubuntu 64bits.

Can anyone experiencing latency with Ubuntu 12.04 try with Ubuntu 12.10?

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 on my Vaio TZ11XN with GIMX 0.51 and I have no delay. Everything works right out-of-the-box.

Cheers,

Hey hey Matlo! I am (un)fortunately able to reproduce this issue - installed Ubuntu 12.10 last night on my laptop, all updates, and I get 4-6 second lag when trying to play RDR. Downloaded Mint 13 at work today (64-bit) and have the EXACT same issue. Strange thing is, it seems to work instantly for the first few seconds, then lags...

Happy to download/install any *nix distro and I can buy another BT dongle if I must, though DX takes aaaaaaages to deliver to me! Currently using this dongle: - grabbed it from your recommended list on the wiki.

If you require more info let me know, happy to be a "test dummy" :)

EDIT

Was on 12.04 before, same issue there too... Thought an update might've helped!

EDIT 2

... I have NO idea what I've just done, but it's now working with <500ms lag I'm sure... Running around without any issues in RDR (apart from the fact that I don't know what any of the buttons do other than WASD!) I think it was to do with un-checking BOTH "Force updates" and "Subpositions", though I'm positive I tried that before.

Either way, if you want I can re-install Ubuntu 12.10/12.04 and test stuff if you want, happy to help out if I can :)

Hi Samlock,

What are the manufacturer and the chip version? (this is displayed in gimx-bluetooth)

What's your hardware? (CPU/memory...)

Do you use 32 or 64bits distros?

Hey,

Cheers for the quick reply - I'm at work until about 6PM GMT, I'll report back with BT dongle details when I'm home. My current install is Mint 13 x64, the "main" image with the default UI parts (whatever difference that may make...). All Ubuntu versions I've tried have been x86.

Hardware is a HP ProBook 4530s, details as follows:

CPU > i3-2310M
RAM > 8GB DDR3
HDD > 250GB SATA-II
GPU > HD3000 (the i3-series integrated one)

The built-in wireless/BT chip is an Atheros AR9285 which I swapped from the Broadcom one for a Hackintosh a while back, but haven't used since. The BT chip isn't supported it seems, so I bought one from DX which I'll get you the details for later!

Cheers!

What's the distance between your dongle and your PS3?
Are you using wifi on the PS3? If yes, can you turn it off and try again?
Can you turn off each other source of interference (wifi networks, bluetooth devices, other wireless devices) one by one, and try to reproduce the issue each time?
