Game Input MultipleXer

Just having some initial teething issues that I hope someone can help with

First off I'm using Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

When I click on check I get an error "joystick not found: Microsoft X-Box One pad (0)" however I have checked that my computer has it in its devices when it is plugged in.

I have then hit start to see what it does and it seems to find the controller but when I hold the guide button for 2 seconds it doesn't seem to recognise my controller and this is as far as I can get.

Interestingly I've tried this on a windows machine and it finds the controller when I hit check and says the config is ok but I still cant get any further.

Also to note I've changed out USB cables from the controller to PC and i have swapped Controllers altogether

I have also noted sometimes, very randomly it starts displaying stings of long numbers saying some thing like ""number" fired timer 2" or something along those lines but i find it too hard to replicate that issue to get it in a log file

Device name in windows and ubuntu is different. You can try to create config yourself and re-test again.

What's the target gaming console?

i havent tried to create a new configuration yet but will.

the target console is and Xbox One, to start off with i just want to be able to capture the xbox controller but cant seem to get to that point.

im sure im just not doing something

still not having much luck, i pulled the usb out fo the conroller at the end just to see how it would react.

occasionally i get this in my python print out

'Press the guide button of the controller for 2 seconds.'

Did you press guide button on controller when requested?
I'm asking as I do not see such thing happening in the log file.

If you have batteries in your controller, try removing them.

yep i hold it down for 2-3 seconds just incase. I have tried a different controller, different batteries. one thing i havent tried is making sure the controller is still working on my XBOX then plugging it into the PC but i figured that might not allow the handshake to happen.

still no luck after confirming the controller is working on the xbox. could it be a config thing?
