I'm just reading the tutorial step 2 says "Plug your sixaxis (and the bt dongle, if external) to your PC".

What exactly is my sixaxis?
That is your ps3 controller that you got with the ps3. (or if you bought an official ps3 controller.)

plug it in with the usb cable.
I don't have to do that though do I since I'm using the BT dongle right? Are you saying that it is necessary to make one of those USB adapters?

No, you need a ps3 controller, just connect it with the cable it came with.

Plug your ps3 controller into your pc before you start the GIMX program.

Of course, I was confused (I don't actually have a PS3 yet), I didn't know they came with USB cables.

Is it a simple matter to install Ubuntu in VirtualBox and use it that way? Would that increase the lag in any way?

Just install ubuntu 11.04, it automatically partitions the hard drive.

Its pretty simple, and if you have any problems you can ask.

For now you should install ubuntu from the official website, and get the GIMX software up and running.

In synaptic package manager there is no "universe" to add to anything. I have click settings->repositories and am looking at a window with four tabs, ubuntu software, other softare etc. I'm going to attempt running the emu anyway.

I just noticed my BT dongle says bluecore01a, that's the wrong kind isn't it?
