No adapter detected (TIAO GBoard 2.0 + RPi + PS4)

Post by reborn1337 »

Hey,
im having a hard time setting this up.

Im using the TIAO Gboard 2.0 (ordered from here http://www.diygadget.com/tiao-gimx-gboa ... board.html).
Then i got a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B.
For flashing the firmware i followed the instructions from http://www.tiaowiki.com/w/How_to_Instal ... MX_Adapter , i used 'firmwares-5.8/EMUPS4/atmega32u4.hex'.

I connected the board to the Raspberry first, then console. Started the Gimx-Launcher, it chose '/dev/TTYAMA0' as the device for the DIY USB automatically.
When i press start it only waits some time and closes window.
Calling gimx directly gave me same error message like in the following logfile :

Code: Select all

global option -l with value `log.txt'
global option -c with value `FOO.xml'
controller #1: option -p with value `/dev/ttyAMA0'
now reading arguments for controller #2
status flag is set
subpos flag is set
force_updates flag is set

Something strange i noticed when flashing (did this on an osx system), after successfully flashing im doing a 'read' and it gives me different memory values compared to the state after executing an 'erase --force'.
When i disconnect the usb cable from the Gboard and replug it, 'read' gives me

Code: Select all

dfu-programmer: no device present.
I then connected it to the RPi and dfu-programmer can't finde any device as well.

The board looks like this (it was assembled like this when it came in the post, it said i dont have to solder or build anything anymore) :

I simply dont know where to continue, completely clueless.

Your help is appreciated, thanks!

EDIT:
I took a closer look into the manuals and found out that the button on the Gboard "activates" the bootloader. After pressing it, i was able to erase and flash the firmware to the Gboard from my RPi. But everything after that is still not working.

Hi,

The ttyAMA0 device is the UART from the GPIO pins. You are getting timeouts since there is nothing attached there.
If you don't have a ttyUSB0 device in gimx-launcher, check the CP2102 side of the adapter to the RPi is connected to the RPi.

Hey matlo!

Thanks for the response.
Indeed it fixed this error.

I feel very stupid now. But im very unexperienced with stuff like that and didn't properly use my brain.

Anyway, i was almost writing a new entry on a new problem but it showed that i have to press PS button (the button on the keyboard i assigned to the PS button). I was pressing the controller button like crazy..

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help, much appreciated! :)

Hi,

I am currently attempting a similar setup to OP after successfully getting GIMX to work on PS4 via TIAO GBoard + Windows PC several months ago. I have been way too lazy to go back to that setup though, as PC is in another room, so wheel has pretty much been going to waste all this time. I recently came across a cheap RPi 3 Model B though and was hoping to be able to set that up permanently instead.

Sorry but I haven't a clue what I'm doing. The second post in the thread made zero sense to me unfortunately.

What I have is, as I said, quite similar to OP:

- PS4
- Logitech G25
- Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
- TIAO Gboard with firmware for PS4/G29 installed as per tiaowiki.com/w/How_to_Install_GIMX_Firm ... MX_Adapter

The Raspberry also has an SD card with the following image: http://www.steve-marton.com/gimx/?p=180

And everything is plugged in as per diagram: Image

And that's where everything falls apart. Following console output is all I've got to go on:

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# /usr/bin/gimx -p /dev/ttyUSB0 -c LogitechG25_G29.xml --nograb
controller #1: option -p with value `/dev/ttyUSB0'
now reading arguments for controller #2
global option -c with value `LogitechG25_G29.xml'
grab flag is unset
../common/posix/async.c:196 async_read_timeout: select failed with error: No such file or directory
can't read packet header
gimx.c:208 main: no adapter detected

Next thing I think I will try is an alternative RPi image I saw mentioned at http://www.steve-marton.com/gimx/?p=180 and see if I have any luck. Will keep trying other things in the meantime too, just thought I would post first in case anybody had any insights or was willing to help. Thanks.

Okay have now installed Raspbian with full GUI etc which looks a bit more familiar to me coming from Windows. Have managed to get GIMX installed but on the GIMX Launcher step I get 'Joystick not found', This is despite it showing up as a connected device when I check lsusb.

GIMX log as follows:

Code: Select all

global option -l with value `log.txt'
global option -c with value `LogitechG25_G29.xml'
controller #1: option -p with value `/dev/ttyUSB0'
now reading arguments for controller #2
