Gimx File access timeout

Post by devedander »

So my Gimx DIY USB was working fine yesterday however it stopped working and I can't figure out the issue.

global option -l with value `log.txt'
global option -c with value `LogitechG27_G29_W10.xml'
controller #1: option -p with value `COM4'
now reading arguments for controller #2
status flag is set
subpos flag is set
force_updates flag is set

Sometimees the number after async.c changes and sometimes it's a read file error but invariably it's always this.

Nothing changed hardware wise between it working and not working...

Any suggestions?

I should mention the same thing happens on an old laptop that used to work with Gimx... seems like it's the device?

Hi,
This indicates a problem with the adapter. Check the wiring is correct, and also make sure the USB cables work fine.

Thanks for the reply!

So the USB/UART adapter?

The adapter is plugged directly into the PC USB port so cabling shouldn't be a problem there.

I can try directly soldering the adapter to the adruino in case there is a problem with the cabling between, however I get the same error regardless of if there is even the arduino wired up or not which makes me think the error is before the arduino?

I am not familiar with C functions, does this error mean that there is a problem writing/reading something to the Adapter or that the adapter is not writing/reading something properly from the arduino?

Thanks again!

BTW I forgot to mention this is the original kit sold by Steel_3D that is no longer sold and being used under windows with PS4.

Please post a clear picture of the adapter showing the wiring.

Thanks for the help all.

I got some time to tinker with it and after testing the adapter itself and then flashing the adapter module I tested continuity on all the connector wires and they seemed good, however I noticed one or two were a little easier to remove from the pins on one end.

I pressed down the catch portion inside the header (not sure what it's called) and they fit much more tightly now and it has worked reliably.

So lesson learned, even if they feel snug sliding onto the pins they may not really be snug enough....

Thanks again for all your help and consider this resolved!
