Gimx application Crashes

Post by njhnjh666 »

All is in the title. Whether I open gimx-launcher, gimx-config, the apps launch fine but if I click on anything I get a "Gimx stopped working"

I used the event viewer and noticed that it's caused by ntdll.dll

I already had that problem and it fixed itself without me doing anything. But now I can't use gimw at all since it keeps crashing. I ran it in safe mode fine tho.

I tried doing sfc /scannow with no avail and tried updating nvidia drivers.

I'm currently stuck, as I feel like i've tried anything.

Update : I removed my bluetooth dongle and the game mode started working. But everything else doesn't work.

Edit : It launches fine, but if I just made an input (press a button) it crashes.

I'm having the same issue, with GIMX crashing on startup. It gets as far as logging "using default refresh period: 5.00ms" to console, if run using the command line "gimx.exe --config "LogitechG27_G29.xml" --port COM1", before crashing. It only logs "windows/gprio.c:23 gprio: failed to set priority class", with a blank log.txt, if run from Gimx-launcher. I also have Gimx-launcher crashing if I click Check, and Gimx-config crashes if launched from Gimx-launcher, but not if run directly.

GIMX v6.11 x64, Win10 x64. Latest updates as of 14/12/17.

Event Viewer throws the following event details (all are extremely similar, Exception code and Fault offset never change.)

Code: Select all

Faulting application name: gimx.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5a0a144d
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.16299.64, time stamp: 0x493793ea
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x00000000000f87bb
Faulting process ID: 0xb20
Faulting application start time: 0x01d374267684171e
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\GIMX\gimx.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
This only occurs on one of my computers, however it's the one I want to run GIMX on permanently (of course). I'm happy to test with other machines, though.

Hi,

Thanks for reporting.
Could you please generate a crash dump for gimx.exe?
There are details on how to achieve this here: https://kb.acronis.com/content/27931

OK, crash dump generated. Download here. It got a bit further today before crashing - here's the full log:

Code: Select all

windows/gprio.c:23 gprio: failed to set priority class
global option -c with value `LogitechG27_G29.xml'
controller #1: option -p with value `COM1'
now reading arguments for controller #2
subpos flag is set
force_updates flag is set

Press the PS button to activate the controller.

However, after rebooting and testing again, the log only got as far as previously stated.

By the same token, I tried genrating a log for gimx-config.exe, and this time it actually opened from the launcher when trying to produce a dump, but not when not trying to!

Hi,

I think I may have fixed the crash, but I'm unsure as I am not reproducing on my setup.

Could you please test the following GIMX 7.0 beta?

Unfortunately, it's not fixed the issue for me. I think there is some issue with my system resuming from sleep, as after it goes to sleep once, I can no longer use ProcDump - it keeps on giving an error stating "A device attached to the system is not functioning (0x0000001F, 31)". This may also be contributing to the earlier-noticed behaviour where it behaved differently after reboot.

Again, the Exception code and Fault offset haven't changed between versions.

At this point, there's enough issues with the computer that I'm going to do a repair install, and see if that improves things.

Could you please provide me a teamviewer access to the faulty computer?
