OK, still the same issue with Ubuntu 16.04. Not sure what it is. Im soo close but feel soo far away.
As a side note you have to install a update for the software of 16.04. there is a bug where it wont let
you install any 3rd party programs. Ill get the link in a bit.

yes, i did what the instructions said and put some text into the serial monitor box and hit the button. "Hi There" is what i typed and "Hi There" is what got put into the bigger box below.... So i believe it is fine correct?

Also when i hit the "Home button on Xbox consoles" as the last step says, it displays a bunch of text saying that "invalid input" or something to that extent. It actually repeats the same line over and over and fills up the terminal box.

Another note, I haven't messed at all with the config. I'm just using the stock downloaded one. Any issues with this?

OK IT WORKS!!! well the keyboard does anyway. Just have to get the mouse working. I did the dpi settings via the instuctions with the config but it only lets me push the buttons on the mouse . Moving the mouse does nothing.

OK GREAT, EVERYTHING WORKS!
I am going through the mouse config tool tutorial and I dont see that software installed or the download for it anywhere. and your instructions do say to update photo. So im going to play around with the settings. In Battlefield 1 it was too jerky. not smooth enough. Thanks for all your help. i hope this helped someone.
So in summery:
1.You need a xbox one controller without the 3.5 mm jack from Microsoft.
2. I had to reprogram the Tiny like every time it didnt recognize it. Im not sure what thats all about. Its like if you dont get a good connection you must reprogram.
3. You must leave the Xbox one controller in for about 10 to 15 seconds or the launcher will not detect it.
4. YOU MUST configure the controls via FPS config or Gimx-config.
5. i also took those cruddy jumpers they give you and took the plastic piece off and pushed down the metal tab that made the connection with a tack pin more, so it was a very firm connection.
I also noticed i never had to hit the home button on the controller like the instructions said.
