Now wheel works in the game, but no force feedback at all.

After the removed part none of the commands seem to get successful as there is no more "> ack" message.
Could you post the log part after the last "> ack" message?
Also, there might be something useful in the dmesg output.

So, I logged into W7 ultimate 32bit, I uninstalled GIMX, then I downloaded the version you linked to me, and installed it fresh new.
I started GIMX with conv_ff debug log, and here's the result (extract).

Same thing as before. Wheel works but no ffb at all.
When I get back to windows, and I enter the wingman calibration utility, force feedback and spring effect work properly though...

Of course I am available for any other ideas or try-outs.
