Raspbian lite doesn't work, normal Raspbian does

Post by steel_3d »

I'm having an issue with my current rpi setup, where gimx starts correctly without errors, yet the PS4 won't recognize the wheel. It's unresponsive when I press the PS button. Everything else seems fine as far as leds lighting up and controllers looking active.

If I swap my sd card to another one with my old image, everything works fine.

The only difference I can think of is that the new sd card has raspbian lite installed, with no gui. The old one has regular raspbian. I think I did all the other setup steps the same.

Any ideas on how I can debug this?

Here's the output:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ /usr/bin/gimx -p /dev/ttyUSB0 -c LogitechG27_G29.xml --nograb
controller #1: option -p with value `/dev/ttyUSB0'
now reading arguments for controller #2
global option -c with value `LogitechG27_G29.xml'
grab flag is unset
native mode is already enabled for HID device 01:01:04 (PID=c29b)
Detected USB adapter: G29 PS4.
using default refresh period: 5.00ms

And here is the detailed log of the working version:

global option -l with value `steel_3d'
grab flag is unset

Hi,
The difference is the kernel version. Currently anything later than #873 doesn't work.

You sure? My working copy is on #897. I downgraded to #873, same result. PS4 doesn't respond. I've tried everything, going through the install steps again, no luck. Is there some way to get more debug output from gimx to figure out what might be failing? According to the log, everything's peachy... I also took the ethernet cable and Logitech keyboard/mouse receiver out of the loop to avoid confusion (other image works fine with everything connected). I'm at a loss...

The kernel was updated to 4.4 in version #873, and this broke my RPi B+ setup.
Newer RPi versions may behave differently.
