Building New PC for BF3, need advice.

Post by uwontprevail »

Id like to start off by saying that i will be running bf3 at 1080p resolution only, and at 60Hertz.

Ok lets get to the good stuff.

Case - Xcilo Wind tunnel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811103011
Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813138320
Ram- 8gb 1600 dual channel http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231445
cpu - i5 2500k
gpu - 580 Zotac AMP! edition http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814500186
psu - 850w Corsair Enthusiast http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817139009
cpu cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835103065
HDD -320gb 7200 rpm Western Digital Caviar Blue hard drive.

I am stuck between this setup, or getting two 560 ti's and doing SLI, with a more expensive motherboard.
The price is still the same, at about 1200 dollars.

The 560's in sli are faster in BC2, but i'm not sure about bf3.

is it even worth getting the 2600k?

From what ive read its only a 2-4% increase at the most.

Also, I will not be upgrading this computer.

So the video cards that i will get, will stay the way they are.

I will not buy a 2nd 580gtx to sli with the one i might get now.

I basically have until mid september to decide what i'm going to do.

Thanks guys.

One of my friends uses two 6850s in crossfire and overclocked with custom fans, he managed around about 60 fps constant with very few dips into the 50s. It all Depends on your budget ;)

This may sound rude, but wait a tiny weeny little bit after BF3 comes out. Hopefully they'll release a 'optimised' card like they did with the 6800 GT back in the day.
