sync Gimx to PS3 without cable.

Post by Coldfusionstorm »

Firstly what im trying to do.

I have a playstation 3 without a controller, i did a reset and it needs a controller to sync with(this is usualy done with a usb cable). however i have none of those i googled around and found this:
http://www.ehow.com/how_7740216_connect ... r-usb.html

I however cannot get gimx-bluetooh to work (picture below), it seems like it want a joystick to start with and i don't have that.

When i press "check" i get this error/warning
http://imagebin.org/245344
and starting the emuclient just crashes the application.

And then i hear something about gimx not suporting the PS button?.

Shouldnt i be able to present my PC as a controller and then do the steps from the ehow tutorial? (perhaps ecept that the PS button dosnt work?).

Acer onenote Atom processor.
Linux 12 (lisa)

im very new here so please if i forgot something or did something wrong dont kill me, i did look at the FAQ,Wiki,Forums, and googled.

And tell me il fix the information if anything is mising

I never had any problem using linux (linux mint 11) and bluetooth, and the plus side was that my home button did in fact work. Try mapping it (I mapped it to the home button above my arrow keys), and see what happens. One thing that you need to consider, is that gimx maps the controller, and pretends to be it.

Your controller needs to be synced to the PS3, and then you will need to power it off (the controller), and plug it into your computer, then launch GIMX. Once in the program, you will need to copy down your BT adapter address, and then you will need to set the address using the set address button.

Also as a note, the USB cable that is required, is really very cheap, about a dollar online, and usually $5 at most retailers, and depending on length.
