After you upload arduino board firmware, it won't show COM port in Device Manager anymore. So don't panic :) You can try this way to reupload firmware on it: - Connect both sides to PC. - Use Update firmware funtion in gimx-launcher. - When it says "Unplug/replug the USB cable from/to computer ...

When you plugged your USB to UART side to PC, nothing happen in Port right? So I think your USB to UART is dead. To make sure it is dead or not, try open Device Manager and look at Ports (COM & LPT) section. https://i.imgur.com/BySYEC7.png If you don't see the line USB to UART there, the answer ...

Of course you can.
Use gimx-config to bind analog from controller (you can use the same controller which was used to authenticate, no need another one) and bind mouse axis for aim.
