No luck getting linux to boot from the Live Key, not sure if it was my usb drive or not, it would get to the boot screen but then say file unavailable when I hit alt+enter to see why it was taking so long to boot. I did try it with another windows 7 laptop and my second PS3 (FAT) and it didn't work ...

Not so lucky here... booting the Ubuntu usb key now. My first Linux experience, wish me luck.

Does the Output>GUI mode show the right actions? Yes it does, it'll show the corresponding input when I press the buttons. Left(255), Right(255), Up(255), Circle(255), Square(255) ect. Did you tried to map the adapter as first controller? I'm not quite sure what you mean by map, but I do plug it in...

Yes I forgot to mention I did that test as well. I also swapped the rx and tx around on the cp2102 even though they are clearly marked just because its such a common problem.
