Well I did a complete format of my ps3, (took over 15 hours...) but it was a success! I am still on custom firmware and gimx works fine. I think what happened was a year or two back I had tried to install ps3xpad a program for using other controllers on a ps3 and that was interfering with gimx. I had never gotten the program to work though so I forgot about it until recently. Thanks guys for all the help.
