Never tested, but it should be possible.
Just select output as DS4 on gui or in command line use "-t DS4" parameter

You can assign more the one key to one button and vice versa on Gimx-config.

What GIMX does it tells the F1 that you are using a G27 besides what you are are using.

Theoretically, anything recognized as input on Linux could be used with GIMX.

Most of these situations are due bad/broken USB cable, please try others one and without any usb hub.
