Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Okay, I did the following: 1) Ran sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade - Ubuntu did update a few things 2) Tested GIMX 3.5 - Works correctly 3) Reset Teensy to baseline condition by installing blink_slow_Teensy2.hex 4) Installed GIMX firmware (/firmwares-4.1/EMUPS3/atmega32u4.hex) 5) ...

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Ubuntu should be up to date. Any time I go more than a few days without turning the box on, I give it 10-15 minutes to check for updates before I fire up GIMX. It usually updates at least a few things. I think it auto-updated before I ran the GIMX update, but I will force it to update. After that sh...

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Reloaded GIMX 3.5.1, reinstalled firmware 3.0, and everything runs fine now. YAY!!! Obviously, I would like to run the latest version of GIMX but there is an issue somewhere. Is it possible that removing GIMX 3.5.1 and then installing 4.2 from scratch would have a different result than allowing the ...

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Downgrading both the software and the firmware may also help to see if the problem is due to the updates or not. To uninstall gimx, type in a terminal: If I uninstall GIMX, where do I get the older version software & firmware to reinstall for testing? UPDATE: I cleared the GIMX firmware out of ...

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

I reloaded the Teensy firmware, making sure that it was the correct one, and it had no affect. Looking at the PJRC site, I see that there are sometimes issues with the Teensy loading correctly. http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/troubleshoot.html I followed the instructions there for "Teensy Not Recogn...

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Okay, ran that and I see nothing in the jstest-gtk window.

Does this mean that my Teensy went bad just sitting on my desk?

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Just to make sure I understand:

1) I should have both ends of the DIY USB Adapter connected to my PC
2) Run GIMX
3) Run jstest-gtk
4) Make sure that GIMX commands are being seen in jstest-gtk

I won't do anything until you confirm, just to make sure I don't burn anything up.

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

I installed jstest-gtk using the command you gave, but how do I run it?

(Sorry, not a Unix user. Not familiar with where things go when installed and/or how to run them after they are installed.)

Re: GIMX will not run on Ubuntu since 4.2 update

Did you set the USB adapter as controller 1 on the PS3? I am not sure what you mean by that. The USB cable is connected to the lefthand port on the PS3 as it always was when I was using the previous release. Is there an additional setting or step required in 4.2 that tells the PS3 which controller ...
